{"id":26965,"date":"2026-01-23T21:11:41","date_gmt":"2026-01-23T10:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kgc.com.au\/cms\/?p=26965"},"modified":"2026-02-12T21:12:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T10:12:21","slug":"grounds-report-january-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kgc.com.au\/cms\/2026\/01\/grounds-report-january-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Grounds Report &#8211; January 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><u>January Grounds Report<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We finished the year with some mild summer temperatures, but mother nature kept us on our toes, with some warm days and only receiving a total of 19mm of rain over the month.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Greens<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Greens have been performing well over the past month; we have had a strong fungicide preventative program as this time of year is our highest risk to fungal infection<\/li>\n<li>Regular dusting has assisted with the firmness as the greens require more moisture during these dry spells. Applications of a surfactant to the soil profile enhances absorption of the water and increases the wettability of the soil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Fairways<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We continue with our plant growth regulator program to aid in controlling the growth of the plant, which helps to minimize the mowing requirements<\/li>\n<li>Selective fertiliser applications are made to thin areas around the property<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Zoysia areas<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Big focus has been on the control of Kikuyu runners and patches in the Zoysia surrounds and tees. We have had some good results with selective herbicide control with very minimal damage to the Zoysia<\/li>\n<li>Tees and high traffic areas around the greens have received granular fertiliser applications to add in the growth and recovery in these areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Gardens<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The \u201cBush Care\u201d team have taken a well earned break over the Christmas period, 2025 was a very successful and rewarding year for the group and we look forward to another great year ahead.<\/li>\n<li>The course hort team are focusing on weed control and maintaining a defined garden edge to aid in controlling the kikuyu encroachment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Machinery<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Our new rough mower has arrived and has been hard at work, we minimized the time required to cut the primary rough (fairway edge to treeline) which has been extremely helpful for the team<\/li>\n<li>All machinery is up to date with servicing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>WHS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One reported incident which was a near miss and no injuries.
