July Grounds Report

Rainfall for July – 80.0mm (4 days)

YTD rainfall – 882.5mm

Greens

  • Back end of June the greens received 6mm soild tine to a depth of around 60mm. this will help with the greens overall health by allowing oxygen into the soil profile.
  • We have started with our Poa removal program, around 7 greens have been dabbed with herbicide. Most greens have around 1% of Poa in them, other greens like 2, 7, 10, and 18 have slight more Poa. These 4 greens will be treated with a boom application rather than the dabbing process.

Zoysia area

  • Team big focus in the Zoysia has been weed control. Spot spraying of Poa with a selective herbicide id evident with blue dye. Controlling Poa in our green surrounds is highly important for two reasons. 1. Visually a weed free Zoysia 2. Helping to control Poa from encroaching into the green, which ultimately is harder to control than in the Zoysia.
  • A pre-emergent herbicide was also applied to all Zoysia to help stop any new Poa germinating

Fairways

  • In the past week the fairways have received a folia application with pigment. This is just a general maintenance fertiliser just to help with any small amount of growth available and also to help the Kikuyu store nutrients ready for the warmer months.

Gardens/Native areas

  • The team will continue to work around the 5th tee area. The focus will be to thin out the mass plantings on the left side of the pathway.
  • During the recent wind storm that came across Sydney we lost two tree. One tree on the 4th near the green and the other between 6th tee and 7th The tree on the 4th was removed the following day while we will arrange a tree contractor to remove the other at a convenient date due to this tree out of play area.
