Projects
The Foundation was created to provide a vehicle for Club Members, who feel able and inclined, to contribute to the funding of capital works, enhanced facilities and sports development at the Club for the benefit of future generations of members. It opened for donations in 2015.
The Foundation’s major activity during 2020 was to raise the funds required to support our Club following the opening of the new course in September 2019. This funding has enabled the Foundation to fund the new network of cart paths around the course, thanks to a spectacular donation of $250,000 from one of our Senior Members in 2019. Once the drainage project has been completed, the need for additional paths will be identified and added to the existing network in 2022.
In 2019, the Foundation also provided some funding for the new indoor practice facility adjacent to the Pro Shop, through a donation in memory of Kevin Jarry.
The Foundation has also taken on the responsibility for the landscaping of the new course, implementing the detailed landscape plan developed by our course architect Harley Kruse, which will be an ongoing project over the next 4-5 years. About $60k has been spent on landscaping so far, and we anticipate expenditure of $20-30k per annum over the next 4-5 years as appropriately 165,000 native trees and shrubs are planted around the course.
Complementing this work is a volunteer group of Members lead by Greg Isaacs, who are assisting the landscaping project, and general course beautification.
The Foundation has also undertaken to fund the construction of a lightning / safety shelter behind the 15th tee. We remain hopeful that this project will be completed in 2021, but it may extend into 2022. The existing toilet between the 4th green and 5th tee will also be expanded so it too will be able to offer shelter from inclement weather.
